Why Ultra-Processed Foods Are More Dangerous Than You Think
We all know junk food isn’t great for our health, but what if we told you your body treats it like a biological enemy? Shocking new research reveals that ultra-processed foods may trigger your immune system in the same way it reacts to harmful pathogens. That’s right—your daily bag of chips or microwave meal might be setting off internal alarms like a virus or bacteria would.
Ultra-processed foods (UPFs) are industrial creations loaded with additives, preservatives, and synthetic ingredients. They may taste amazing and offer instant gratification, but their impact on your health is far from sweet. Unlike whole or minimally processed foods, UPFs contain unfamiliar chemical compounds that your body struggles to recognize and break down.
